RBC Economics released its Housing Trends and Affordability study this morning and reported improved affordability in all areas of the country. Saskatoon real estate sales followed a typical seasonal trend this week, slipping lower to fifty-nine firm house and condo deals, a decline of nine units compared to last week. On a year-over year basis, sales increased by slightly more than they fell from last week and gained twelve units over the same period in 2009. [...]

A new childcare centre outfitted to care for up to 55 children opened today at Brevoort Park School. The government of Saskatchewan funded the project providing $440,000 to complete the facility, which will be operated by the Parents’ Child Development Cooperative. According to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) Saskatoon housing starts and MLS® resale activity will move in opposite directions, this year and next.
