KISS front man Gene Simmons to make Saskatoon home

I have little doubt that you’ve heard the rumor that KISS front man Gene Simmons and his wife Shannon Tweed have purchased land in the Saskatoon area and I’m pleased to tell you it’s true. The twenty-two acre land purchase was finalized late last year and construction of an 18,650 square foot walkout bungalow is nearing completion.

Apparently, part of the next season of Family Jewels will feature the family managing the construction of their new Saskatoon area home. It should provide a few episodes of good fun.

The family plans to make this area home on a “half-time” basis spending five to six of the “milder weather months” here with the balance of their time spent traveling and staying at their California mansion, which they will keep for the time being.

For those that don’t know, Shannon Tweed was born in the Saskatoon area, so for her, this is a bit of a coming home. Shannon traveled to Saskatoon with Gene when KISS performed here in November of last year. That visit got her thinking about reconnecting with her roots.

For anyone that may not click through to the Star Phoenix link, let me just say, “APRIL FOOLS!” Thanks to Cassandra Kyle of the Star Phoenix for the opportunity to play, and to Amey Riekman from Royal LePage for the brilliant suggestion of using Gene and Shannon as our subject. Shannon’s connection to this area seemed to make the story plausible enough that quite a few people took the bait.

Shannon was not born in Saskatoon. She was born in Newfoundland. Do some research. Other than that, nice joke.

    John,

“Shannon was not born in Saskatoon.”

Right, and she’s not moving “back” here either. :) Thanks.
