Eastview

Eastview is a middle income family area located in south central Saskatoon. A little more than half of the area’s homes are detached single-family houses while the balance are low rise apartments and semi-detached dwellings. Residential development in the Eastview area began some time after 1946 but the vast majority of the homes that exist in the area today were built between 1961 and 1980.

Eastview has very little in the way of commercial development, aside from the Eastview Shopping Centre, but an abundance of shopping opportunities are closely located including Market Mall, Stonegate Shopping Centre and The Centre. The area’s proximity to Circle Drive makes the trip to downtown Saskatoon pretty easy by car.

Eastview has three elementary schools including Alvin Buckwold School and John Dolan School in the public system, and Pope John Paul II School in the catholic school system. Additionally, the area boasts over forty acres of public park space where area residents enjoy baseball, basketball and soccer facilities, a paddling pool, outdoor ice rinks, numerous creative playgrounds and plenty of walking paths.

Eastview is somewhat unique in that the area served as the subject of an experiment in street names with all streets, excluding the main thoroughfare Arlington Avenue, beginning with the word east. Apparently, this experiment proved to be less than popular and has never been repeated in Saskatoon.
