Land purchased for new fire hall in Hampton Village

City Council approved the purchase of land for a new Fire Station in Hampton Village. The city will purchase the 1.12 acre parcel of land facing McClocklin Road from Dundee Developments at a cost of $650,000.

Administration anticipates savings in design costs by constructing a fire hall using the existing plan applied to the new Fire Station #8 currently under construction in Rosewood. The estimated cost of construction is $6.9 million.

Expected to be complete by 2012, the new fire hall will employ approximately 21 people and cost $1.6 million a year to operate.
